Why does my friend think that every natural disaster has to do with end time prophecy?
when the recent volcano hit, she said "you'd better watch out and get ready. it's the end times".

1. with all the earthquakes and now a volcano it makes you think.although earthquakes happen everyday, just not in populated areas like they have been
its from the mayan calender 2012

2. Because your friend is one of the many fundy nut cases out there.
3. She's right we are living in end times. Don't be afraid to acknowledge it.
Your friend is just a very old and very evolved soul, who knows things and is sensitive to things that others can't know.
TRUST her she is right.
4. Because she doesn't understand physics, geology and meteorology.
It is natural to fill gaps in our understanding with a catch-all solution. It may be natural, but that doesn't make it right.
5. If you read the book of Revelations, you'll see that an increase in such disasters is a sign of the end times. However, the whole Mayan calender thing is superstitious and arrogant, in that the Bible also says that NO man knows the exact hour, day, or year the end will come.
6. It's called misinterpreting the book of Revelation. The whole "Left Behind" craziness created this frenzy. If you read Revelation as a letter to the people and understand apocalyptic Jewish literature, it will mean something different than what your friend is saying. Here's the best way to answer your friend "We're one day closer today than we were yesterday to the end times."
7. Because it makes it seem more relative to those who otherwise wouldn't pay too much attention to what happens somewhere else and doesn't effect their lives?
