Mayans 2012 doomsday prophecy?

On 21st December 2012 is the end of the mayan calender which some people say we will mean the end of human civilization. what does everyone think of this prophecy?

Public Comments

1. it doesn't actually say that its the end of civilization, it says that some planets are going to line up and its a "new life" i can see how it was mistaken

2. The Mayans made no such prophecy and anyone else making it is either seriously deluded, a conspiracy nutjob or a hoaxer.
The Mayan Long Count calendar clicks over from 12.19.19.17.19 to 13.0.0.0.0 on 21st December 2012. That's all there is to it. It's the same as our calendar changing from 1999 to 2000. The Mayans themselves never predicted the end of the world would happen at that time.
All the doomsday predictions attached to this date are, without exception, unscientific nonsense, perpetrated by frauds and hoaxers.

3. I don't think its true, what if the mayan died before they could finish the calender?? Their is a lot of possibilities of why the calender stopped on 21 Dec. But i do think that something is going to happen in space, but not the end of the world.

4. Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels who are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

5. I want people to just wake up...

6. I think much of this date has been made based on the belief that the Mayans has some hidden, secretive knowledge of the future. I don't think they were that smart. A speculative theory for their disappearance or dissipation into other cultures is that a prolonged drought ruined their economy and ability to feed themselves - if they were so prophetically smart, don't you think they would have known this and countered with some anticipatory, survival tactic to save themselves from ruin. If they couldn't even save their own culture, why would they be so prophetically accurate in predicting the end for some future point in time. Nah, I don't believe in this hyped-up, doomsday prophecy.

7. I guess we will all fnd out when that time comes.
