7. There is no prophecy associated with that day, however their calendar ends on that day.

8. No, and neither do the Mayans. They seem to wish everyone would just shut up about it and stop abusing their beliefs.

9. I thought it was hogwash at first but the stock market is predicted to crash in 2012 and put us into another Great Depression.

10. No.

Matthew 24:36 "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

11. There isn't a Mayan "doomsday prophecy". That is only the day the Mayan calendar rolls over to another baktun. It is like the new years of a millennium.

12. NO!
it simply records the conclusion of an Era or Age...a word that has been mis-interpreted even in the bible as "time".so making every text relating to 'the end' refer to 'the end of time' instead of 'the end of the age'.

...scaring ignorant people to death...

13. no one knows the future only god does

14. See what the Bible says. This is not theory:

15. it isn't Mayan

There is no doomsday prophecy from any ancient Mayan source. Modern Mayans laughh or are annoyed by this.

16. I'm not an expert on the subject by any means, but I have read about it. The way I understand it is that the Mayans believed (as do other occultists) that 2012 will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new "dark" era for mankind.

I'm not suggesting that it's true (although recent events suggest that they may be right) I'm only saying that's the way I understand it from what I've read. The Bible also predicts that some very dark times lie ahead "such as has never been seen before nor will ever be seen again" although there is no specific date mentioned, only signs to look out for.

It's fairly obvious to me that we are on the very brink of seeing some of those Biblical end-times prophecies fulfilled very soon. Anyone who's been following the recent trend of world events probably won't have much trouble seeing it coming either regardless of whether or not he/she accepts any of those prophecies as truth.
