Why is Percy the demigod that saved olympus when the first Great Prophecy could have been talking about Jason?

In the first series by Rick Riordan, the Great Prophecy talked about a child of the elder three gods saving olympus. In the second series, it was stated that Jason was a son of Jupiter (Zeus) and thus is also a child of the Big Three, so why couldn't he be the demigod that was supposed to save olympus in the first series?

Public Comments

1. Because Percy is the main character.

2. Because It Also Could Have Been Thalia... But It Wasn't... Because It Was Percy... It Could Have Been Any Of Them... But Percy Was Discovered To Be The Correct One...And Knew More Than Jason (that i know of) Did When The Prophecy Was To Be Carried Out...
