Is the world really going to end on December 21 2012?
Lots people are saying the world is going to end on that date. What is your thoughts? What if it was 12-12-12? That would be 666 backwards. Also, if the prophecy predicted this happening, isnt the time/date system all wrong from 1000's of years ago? It really could be 2015 now.
Public Comments
1. No ..not unless some bright spark pushes THE button on that date
2. Yes....yes the world will end then.
3. I want to spend December 21 2012 looking at the faces of those who believe something will happen and laugh.
4. Yes and I am selling tickets to front row seats if you're interested.
5. No, y'idiot.
6. Don't worry. There have been end-of-world predictions for centuries, and we are still here.
7. yep. Just like in the movie "knowing." Oh well..... i guess i might as well not commit suicide and wait it out for 3 years
8. No
No chance
Not at all
No way
Not gonna happen
The only thing that will happen is the ones who believe this will be mocked.
9. It possibly is going to, simply because its always possible it might. On the other hand, its no more likely then any other day, and its just another end time prophecy that is probably going to come and pass like Y2K
10. I'll be smoking a joint on dec 22nd and laughing at all those who were worried.
11. Yeah i generally go by the aztec calander.
Which by the way resets on that day. Its like a ticker.
If we counted using 4 decimal places after 9999 the next year would be 0000.
Thats what the aztec calander does on that day. That is it. Pretty scary.
Did you know that the aztec's believed that the last 5 days of their 52 year short cycle was a time in which evil spirits could cross over, so they had rituals to quell the spirits.
Do you get hyped up over friday the 13th?
12. Didn't it end at the stroke of midnight 01/01/2000? Just another falicy i believe. We made it through then didn't we?
13. NO dear, it ended in 212, 300,500,600,666,707,999,1000,1212,1221,1515,1900,1999,2000,2002 etc... ad nauseam....
14. Did you know that there have been hundreds of end-of-the-world predictions through out human history? The last one being the Y2K in 2000? We are still here aren't we?
What makes you think this one has any more credibility than the others?
15. no
16. 666 backwards is 666.
The prophecy that talks about the world ending (on December 21st 2012) is not a prophecy at all. It's just that a Mayan calendar ends on that specific date. That's it.
The Mayans have other calendars that go much farther in time but those are never or rarely mentioned.
"Maya stelae occasionally show dates beyond 2012. Most of these are in the form of "distance dates", where a Long Count date is given with a distance date to be added. For example, on the Tablet of Inscriptions from Palenque the following Long Count date was found: 9.8.9.13.0 8 Ahau 13 Pop (March 24, 603 Gregorian) with a distance date of 10.11.10.5.8. The resulting date is given as 1.0.0.0.0.8 5 Lamat 1 Mol,[10] or October 21, 4772 — almost 3,000 years into the future. "
17. are you gonna believe everything you hear?
18. no.
19. by what @$$ backward logic did you decide that 12-12-12 is 666 backwards? wtf.
20. Oh no.. Not this question again......
:((
21. All the claims I have heard about the wold ending are on the 21st of December. And every single "theory" that has been presented has been thoroughly debunked, it will be just another day apart for the assholes like me mocking all those who think death is a few seconds away.
22. Are u asking this question again & again like Nazi principle that 'say the lie repetitively and one day people will believe it"
23. 12-12-12 does not matter 6-6-6 also how about friday 13 its supposed to be badluck but what happen to me is nothing i called it friday the 13 boring day the end of the world is not gonna happen god said its the circle of life he created this world earth is circle that you cant see all and why did i know that earth will not be destroyed it did not happen in year 2000 lol im still here
24. I dont know, but i hope somthing changes things cause obama sure hasnt. LoL...
25. NOOOOOO.
It isn't about the "end of the world".
Most people are stupid and paranoid and read headlines instead of articles. Articles instead of books.
Most of this is related to the Aztec calendar... around then the Aztec age that we've been in will end. Just like in our time system 2000(or 2001) started a new century.
The Aztecs, however, put more religious/spiritual emphasis on this change than we do on centuries. They believed that a change in the Age would bring about a change in the world as well.
So it is more like "The end of the world AS WE KNOW IT"
Kinda like the hippies in the sixties talking about the dawning of the age of Aquarius. That is based on the movement of the stars. Soon we will be moving from the realm of this ages sign into that of Aquarius, which is supposed to bring about a new understanding of ourselves and the earth or something. idonno.
26. Humans are barely able to fathom the laws that govern the Universe in this time period. Do you honestly believe that some ancient civilizations would be able to do any better? The only way they would be capable of accurately predicting the end of the world would be with help. Time exists regardless of the existence of mankind or even Earth. The Universe does not care. Our existence is not written in some giant journal. Humans will cease to exist when the laws that govern the Universe decide.
27. Probably not.
One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.
These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.
