About the 2012 and the mayan calendar?

ok , it is ridiculous how some people like to scare other people about things that are not true.
Actually according to the Mayan calendar and their "prophecies" the 2012 it will start a great time for human kind.

i don't believe in these things but the whole 2012 mania got my attention because i was watching a documentary about it 3 -4 years ago and me and my husband was talking about it how come it is not known to the world yet and after 3 years all people are talking about it.
The annoying part is that many are trying ot make it look like a doomsday which it is not.

relax people, human kind will go on forever.

1. No guarantee our kind will go on forever, and it is ridiculous to think that the Mayans can foresee our future, but it is interesting nonetheless.

2. First of all the world will not end for a very long time and thats if it ever does and most people who are currently living on earth will not be alive when the world does end and once again thats if it does most of what they say is not true atleast not the end of the world part

3. yeah, you're right. IT's supposed to be the end of the Mayan long count calender, which doesn't mean the end of the world. For example, the world doesn't end on December 31st, it just re-starts on January 1 again. I dare say the Mayan calander will re-start on number 1 again.

4. I don't think the people who want to believe things like that are scared. I think they're looking forward to it.

5. Eh, while the this world won't last forever it isn't going to be destroyed until the sun goes red giant in roughly 5 billion years. Though yes the 2012 stuff is BS. Dunno about human kind lasting forever. I think we'll end up killing ourselves in all honesty.

6. I agree. I don't think it is doomsday. I think we are just going to live a new way. I think we are gearing up to it very quickly. The world is on a fast change.

You have to stop and think about this, Imagine you are in charge of creating the Mayan calendar you roughly have to carve out 144,000 days on to a giant stone slab. do you think that maybe the poor guy got tired, and said "that's enough for now some one else can keep making this calendar in ten thousand years."
