1. no one really knows... but one thing we ALL know is that ALL of us really ARE going to die..
the Bible doesn't say the world will end in 2012... the Bible doesn't name dates....
the Mayan calendar, Nostradamus, the Hopis, the Great Pyramid, the Aztecs all point to 2012... different eras, different countries, different cultures... as a Christian, I find it very interesting that they all indicate that the world will end even though NONE of these comes from a Christain source.......... but sooner or later the end of the world really is coming......
2. Before 2012 it was 2000. Then 1990. And 1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1982, 1980, 1975, 1974, 1970, 1967, 1960, 1957, 1953, 1948, 1940, 1936, 1919, 1915, 1914, 1891, 1856, 1850, 1844, 1832, 1830, 1794, 1792, 1736, 1689, 1669, 1533, 1524, 1496, 1346, 1284, 1205, 1033, 1005, 1000, 992, 968, 500, 375, 365, 200, 90, 60, 30.
When you predict the end of the world, all you are doing is predicting the day you will become a laughing stock.
3. No, but your world will end on December 21, 2012!! I don't mind having all your stuff!!!
4. These are all very good links, but it was too depressing to read through all of them thoroughly. Let me give this more thought, and I will try to get back with you.
Okay, I'm back. I look at what is happening now in the world and think that we are headed for some type of global disaster which will change a lot of how we live and interact on this earth. The earth is giving us warning signs & scientists are predicting dire consequences; peaceful co-existence between different religions and countries seems more & more elusive; military weapons are outpacing our moral and ethical standards of interacting; and new diseases seem to be emerging with which our medications are unable to keep pace. On top of all that, we have all these predictions.
It doesn't make sense that we can continue to overpopulate, pollute, hate each other and continue on indefinitely. However, I don't think that in December 2012, some one event will change everything. I believe it will be a steady and subtle culmination of factors which will result in some catastrophic realization.
As 9/11 changed forever how we perceive our liberties, I believe that 12/12 will forever change how we perceive civilization.
5. No, but I do believe that sooner or later we're all bound to make some sort of huge spiritual ascention to a higher level of consciousness. What may be perceived as a world coming to an end, may be the birth of a whold new world.
ps: don't worry about it
6. The thing that bugs me about when people comment on this Dec. 21st, 2012 topic in regards to other "doomsday prophecies" is that they obviously don't understand why they say the world is going to end. Most of those other predictions don't give a reason why and are all crap. The 2000 Y2K think didn't say the world was going to end, but that anything run by computers would be done for.
The importance of this date is that something that happens only every 26,500 years or so (I am going off of memory, it could be 26,000, but whatever) is going to happen on that day. The Earth aligns in a way that we as a species have no record of to know exactly what will happen. They theorize that the poles are going to shift and cause world wide natural disasters. They don't know for sure, but to get an idea on how much of a possibility they think it is, check out the stuff they have locked in a vault in Antarctica. All the seeds and stuff needed to regrow everything know to man in case of a world wide catastrophic event.
I think there is a great possibility that Dec. 12th, 2012 is going to be the end of the world as we know it. Key words there being "as we know it." I think that maybe a great number of people will die and that there will be survivors to repopulate and get another chance at this world that we have so ruined. If you notice, the Mayan calendar starts over again.
But the biggest thing to remember here is that we don't really know what is going to happen.
7. Give me a real reason why and I'll give you two real reasons why not... Predicting the end of the world is foolish. What are you trying to prove? What are you trying to do? What is the message you're trying to send? I feel, think, and believe that the only reason people are saying this is because someone flat out said, "If things keep going the way they have been, the world going down the drain like it has been, the world will destroy itself on 'this day/date' ". Word got out about this like a bad rumor and so here we are.
In all honesty I wouldn't disagree with that. In fact quite the opposite. I'd help the person make his or her statement about why and how. Heck, I'd type it up for him/her! But that doesn't make it true fact and future; it makes it a true message that people should think about. Maybe the general public would learn to think again, for goodness sakes!
But if people keep thinking and worrying about that, then it honestly might just happen. Energy is what makes the world go 'round, and if too many think these negative thoughts and send their negative energy around who knows what could happen?? We are killing ourselves and this world and everything, but in more and different ways than people think. It's not just the gasoline, not just the eco system, not just the killings, shootings, rapings, drugs, and so on. But us and how we act and what we're doing and not doing that is also killing everything. At least that's what I think, feel, and believe...
Much luck in life. (However long or short it may be...)
8. It's something I've long been fascinated by. Yes, people have predicted the end of the world before... but never has it been predicted by so many major religions and prophecies, and never for so long. For all the lunatic rants that the world will end in such a such year, the 2012 date has existed for ages and slowly but surely swept into consciousness.
The most notable being the Mayan calendar... the most accurate lunar/astronomical calendar to date. The Sun will be in the mathematical center of the Milky Way Galaxy on December 21, 2012... which happens only every 26,000 years. And the current baktun will be completed and reset, ending an era that started around 3114 BC, which interestingly coincides with the joining of Lower and Upper Egypt, which basically ushered in Western Culture as we know it.
The Inca, Aztecs, etc... all have similar predictions.
Likewise, Nostradamus prophecized a major world "change" right around then. And the Judeo-Christian 11:11 prophecy, by most mainstream calculations, the world will reach 11:11 on that exact date, too. And also in Judeo-Christianity, there's a 7 year Revelations period, which some think we're currently in. And what coincides with both revelations and the end times... the Fatima prophecies. In 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to 3 children over a course of time and outlines the end of the world for them, and told them when they'd die and what their roles were. This was an is the source of great controversy... though interestingly, at the time of Mary's last appearance, people around the world reported seeing some sort of flare in the sky (solar flare?) . Apparently, she warned the children that they'd be the last generation to be spared, etc, etc, etc... 2 of the children died shortly thereafter, and both predicted their death before it happened. The last child grew old, and just recently died in 2005 (7 years before 2012)... so, basically, she was spared from Revelations.
Various other prophecies, too (include a change of eras/world order in Hinduism, etc...) all coinciding with the 2012 date (either exactly or in a small window which 2012 fits into).
However, the thing is that none of these actually predict the "end of the world" necessarily... in fact, some (such as the Mayan calendar, Hinduism, Nostradamus, etc...) predict a change in world order and an age of "enlightenment" (or whatever the hell you want to call it), albeit potentially brought on by catastrophe. The only one that predicts a true "end" is Judeo-Christian (though even that there's some speculation), which leads some to believe it will be an end of religion (thus the Mayan calendar is no longer needed, and in Hinduism the gods become men and men no longer need to worship because they become part of everything and accepting of all other life - thus no longer need religion as an *escape*), etc...
Also, the Mayan calendar has the new era to be one of water... the art and detail is of floods and just torrents of water... which also is eerie with global warming concerns, etc... Which could very well be the catastrophe that destroys everything and makes us start from the ground up.
Anyway... whether or not I believe in it... I don't know. I guess we'll see. But it's very fascinating.
9. This is an interesting question Val...!!! Many don;t realize that Dec 21, 2012 = 12 / 21 / 2012 = 11
Now, many predictions have been made on this date and while I wouldn't be surprise that something may occur, I would be surprise that God would destroy the planet or the entire human race.
I do believe that he may annihilate 2/3 of the population and keep the rest of the 1/3 to start over again. If I was God, I would be tired of all these wars, these famines, these environmental disasters caused by men.
People have to realize that the Earth is God's little ball and I would get mad if somebody was destroying it.
Having said this, i tend to agree with my friend "Famous" on what he posted.
10. No
The world will clearly end on September 31, 2008. That is when we are all gonna die.
*screams in terror running around like a rabid monkey*
11. No one knows when the world gonna end. ......There is not date stated in the bible about this issue. A lot of "fake" preachers have been told about different dates and no one was true....remember when people said that it was happen of 2000?. The only one who knows this answer is God.
12. No one knows it. Shut up. I still got until 2080 to live.
13. The "End of the world" phrase has so many meanings..
I don't know about the accurate date of when this gonna happen, but I believe that when "the world is going to end" it's not about our planet that is gonna be doomed. It is the end of our current era and the begining of a new one. I believe that all the bad people are going to die and all the good will remain. But no one knows how this will happen.
