What is the Message?

Doomsday 2012, If people believe the bible why not believe a prophecy?

Just wanted to get your opinion on all that nostradamous end world in 2012.

6. Nostradamous had nothing to do with the 2012 "prophesy".
The entire claim that the Earth was going to end in 2012 is based on a *misinterpretation* of the *Mayan* calender, which appears to those who don't know how to read it to end in 2012.
In reality, the Mayan calender is a cyclic calender, meaning it runs in a cycle. (Much like a car's odometer, which, when it reaches 999,999 miles, will click back over and start at 000,000 again.) The people who are claiming that the Mayans predicted the end of the world are reading the Mayan calender as if it was a linear calender like ours. It's not. The Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world. They did NOT make any claims of the sort. The people who say that the Mayans said anything like that are people who know NOTHING about the Mayan culture, don't know how to read the Mayan calender, and have NO idea what they're talking about.
Either way, why anyone would attach any sort of significance to a perceived "prediction" made by an ancient civilization that couldn't even predict it's own downfall is beyond logical comprehension. (Not that any end-time theorists in the history of mankind are known for their logic or comprehension skills.) It's particularly baffling that it's Christians who seem to have grabbed on to this, and use it to back up their religion's end-time fantasy, when under ANY other circumstances they would say that the Mayans beliefs were "false beliefs".

7. i do not belive the world ending in 2012. just cuz some acient calender ended in that year doesnt mean that the world will really end! how the fuck would they know that it will end then?

9. I don't get all this religion shit what he's asking is if you believe someone can walk on water and come back from the dead why can't you believe some crazy prophecy the mayans thought up that charts the end of the world in 2012?

10. There are many opinions of what will happen in 2012. Doomsday is only one. They cant all be right.

The above makes as much sense as any other prophesy of the end of the world.

13. I just watched a stupid little movie called "2012 Doomsday". It blended Mayan myth with Christian myths (the rapture) and even had a baby born in a Mayan temple altar to "start the next cycle".

It was interesting and with the release of another movie "coming soon" to take advantage of the "mystery" that the gullible have swallowed, I expect more such nonsense.

Why would I believe a "prophecy" of a man that made money off his "works"? The writers of the Holy scriptures did their task out of love and obedience to God.

And then the Mayan tie-in, a demonistic religion that worshiped false gods, why would any Christian turn to such garbage when they have God's own word?

Enough opinion.

14. Every thing comes to a end at some point. The reason people reject the idea of doomsday is they are afraid to die and face what every one must face one day. I have started to read the book of revelations and have seen several tv programs on the history channel about 2012. the bible speaks of feautreistic weapons so it could very well mean jeasuse is coming and we must face what he deals use.

15. cuz it says in the bible that NO ONE except GOD the Father knows when the end will come. No Body.
