Do you believe in the 2012 Nostradamus prophecy or the 2060 Newton prophecy?

i'm trying to make a survey about how many people believe in the 2012 and 2060 doomsday prophecy.

Public Comments

1. Lol it's all bullshit, it's just a date. Religions always try and scare people =]

2. I will be surprised if someone educated here will try to tell you which nonsense prophecy s/he believes in unless s/he is a total jerk or the stupidest idiot in this planet. This is Astronomy and Space section after all and we are in the last day of 2009. Anyway if this is a survey, should it be in Polls and Surveys? There's no harm in trying, though. Let's see how many fools will come out of their bunkers.

Clear skies!

3. No and no.

None of these prophesies ever come true unless they are so vague that they can be interpreted to be almost anything.

4. These Prophecies as with others past will probably come and pass with the only sector of the human race to really feel any effect from them being the novelists and movie producers who shall make millions from interpreting them into some dramatic thought provoking story's.

If they were to really happen, then why should we really worry. We would not be here the day after to need to worry if many of these stories were to be believed, nor shall we know that it has happened unless you wish to open another can of worms on life after death.

In answer, no i don't believe these, if i did i would give up work now as what would be the point.

5. no...
because nostradamus said that the world would be attacked by a comet in 1999.. but there was no such a thing happened..
i wont believe theseeee

6. No to both.

7. No, just complete nonsense.

8. I dont believe in prophecies at all. Nostradamus was just some guy on drugs that didn't know how to make money.

Newton was the coolest scientist, but I dont believe his prophecy of doomsday.

Seriously, I dont believe any of them two, so NOOOOOO and no.

9. What I know of Newton is that he went a little nuts toward the end of his scientific career. Many historians believe that he was suffering from mercury poisoning -- the result of his crazy alchemy experiments to turn lead into gold. His "2060" prophecy arose from a belief that he alone had been "chosen" to discover God's secrets. I don't give much credence to his later career, as he seems to have abandoned scientific inquiry for more occult-like pursuits; perhaps due his madness.

10. There was no 2012 Nostradamus prophecy and Newton said the world won't end before 2060, so no, I don't believe in these nonexistent prophecies.

11. no and no but i enjoy reading the works of Nostradamus its fucking freaky because his predictions were so accurate. I don't believe in it though lol

12. Neither.

These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

With love in Christ.

13. Not 2012, but I'm starting to debate upon 2060 because Isaac Newton was a scientist
