does anyone have more info on the 2012 doomsday prophecy?

for instance, the connection between Mayan's and many other culture's beliefs and/or faiths. anyone with any info at all please reply. thanks
really, i know its just bullshit. there is a story here that im interested in. just to get things strait.
i do happen to know a lot about it, just doing research on other people that do and how this affects the lives of different people of religion.

1. It's a story based on the Mayan calendar.

However, 2012 was never predicted to be the end of the world by the Mayans. It's just the end of one of their calendar cycles.

We have a calendar cycle that ends every 365 days. The Mayan calendar has a cycle of 144000 days. The 23rd of December in 2012 will be the end of the 13th cycle according to their calender - That's it; that's what all the hype is based on.

2. i dont know much about it other than the other answerer, but i do have something to say about it. there have been lots of other calenders end... nothing happened. and what about the Millennium that just happened in 1999-2000? just sayin. :)
