Did you know about this whole 2012 doomsday prophecy before the movie was announced?

I have known about it since like 2006 or 2007 and I hate how the movie attracted so much attention to the date. Before, hardly anyone knew about it.

So I was just wondering, did you know about this 2012 doomsday prophecy before the movie was announced?

1. Yeah and I've never seen the movie and I think the whole doomsday thing in 2012 is bull haha. I've known since like 207.

5. yea the 2012 doomsday is fake. The Mayan calendar doesn't even represent a dooms day but a special event called the Galactic Alignment. No doomsday just this. Don,t let the world fool you into thinking its doomsday.

6. I heard about the prophecy before I heard about the movie, but it was only a couple of years ago.
Of course, the whole thing is the work of lunatics and crackpots and needn't occupy the minds of normal people for more than a second.

7. Of course - the movie simply capitalized on the hoax as the reason to make it and as a marketing tactic.
The hoax itself actually started around 2003 (it didn't start to become annoying and tedious until about late 2008).
