How to make a good prophecy for my story?

For my medieval-fantasy, I'm using a prophecy. How can I make sure its a good one though— its kinda long, two pages, twelve stanzas of four lines each. It rhymes, but should I use a pattern (fourteen syllables or something?) and how long is to long???
