What do people think of the prophecy in harry potter?

Having read the harry potter books several times, what are everyones opinions of the prophecy. Is it irrelevant, because harry would want to kill voldemort anyway? people say that the prophecy was the cause of voldemort going to kill harry's parents, but apparentl they had thwarted him several times already, so he would have killed them anyway. what do people think?

1. i think voldemort is a paranoid freak and that because he paid attention to a stupid myth.....he is actually digging himself into a deep hole

2. If the prophecy is irrelevant, would Snape or *Draco or *Bellatrix be doing the killing of Voldemort

*If Draco's mother is killed in Book 7 for forcing Snape (with the Unbreakable Vow) to not wait for Draco as Voldemort wanted, then her husband / sister / son who are all close to the Dark Lord want to Avada Kedava him ... prophecy or not.
