What chance is there that the 12/21/2012 prophecy is true? I know, another doomsday question :P But I'm asking this because there is lot of hype about the End Times and Conspiracy Theories lately. They say that the given date for this prophecy to come to a head is on 12/21/2012. In your opinion, is there a chance that this will take place or not? Why or why not? What makes 12/21/2012 anymore important than tomorrow? Sure many prophets have been correct, like Nastradamus and his prophecies about 'Histler,' but the Bible says that nobody will know when Judgement Day is coming. 12/21/12 might be another prophecy to come true, but I doubt it's the end of the world... If judgement day happens, it'll most likely happen on an ordinary day, like you go to sleep worrying about bills, your children, etc., and then wake up to find everything is wrong. The end of the world will happen one day, but heck, how do we know it won't be for a few hundred years *? Maybe this isn't the last millinium, and we'll survive for thousands more years? We could be a part of ancient history one day, and all we can think about is 'the world's about to end! O.O' lighten up.. it could happen 10 seconds from now, but my gut feeling is telling me it won't.

Why are people so afraid of December 2012? Honestly there is nothing to be afraid of. Yes the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, but to them it wasnt the end of the world but a new beginning..a new phase. And so they say our world will be different, but its up to us to establish how hard or easy it will actually be and how to survive it. 2012... sad little prophecy? Bull****! We should all know that it will not end as the Bible ( in REVELATION, I think) it states that no one will know when the end will come. Aside from Holy Scripture and more to the Mayans, their calendar is a circular that will simply reset for the 13th time. Also remember that they died out so perhaps their calender was unfinished... just a thought. Also, if I remember correctly, which I do because I was only 8 when it occurred, the end of 1999? If I recall correctly the world was suppose to end then with one of the following reasons: A) Computers (for some reason) could not change from 1999 to 2000 (although you could put it into a calculator just fine). B) A computer virus was to infect the WWW and make all technology stop. C) The computers were to grow some 'brains' and rebel against us like Skynet in Terminator. I also find that (in the past) the SUPER Religious thought the world to end during the 1800s and early 1900s but when the sun rose the next morning, the group of believers committed suicide. What is your opinion on the "2012 Doomsday Prophecy's "? ? It seems that wherever you go now, you see books and information and people talking about the "2012 Doomsday Prophecy's". Between the Mayan Calender, Nostradamus, The Biblical cryptic & numerical codes, it seems to be a major topic of discussion. Of course, there have been many past "Doomsday Theories" such as Y2K and 9/9/99 prophecy's that have proved to be false. What is your opinion? December 21st 2012.... what do you all think about that? Ok, let me first start off by saying that 2012 is not just a movie, It's based on real predictions of many reliable prophets and prophecies from the past. Now, as we all know, we have many many differenct religions surrounding the globe and we all have different beliefs and stand by those beliefs to the point of going to war just to prove that each and every one of our religions is the right way. Muslims only: What is your opinion regarding 21.12.2012 Doomsday?? :-/? According to the Mayans, 21.12.2012 is the end of their Mayan calendar, PLUS the end of the universe (i.e., Doomsday of course). Ironically, this date (as shown above) falls on Friday, on which we Muslims also believe that Doomsday will occur on Friday, no doubt. My 8yo daughter comes to tears talking about 12-21-2012......what can I say? She heard some stuff in school over the last year, and was very upset several times. i really do not know what to say to her. I am watching the history channel's show about the Mayans and all the prophecies about the end of the world in 2012. She came in and saw some of it, got upset, and left the room, but keeps coming back after she composes herself. I explain what I understand, and answer her questions to the best of my ability, but she gets S0oooo upset to the point of tears. I have always known her to be far more advanced in her thinking then her age. I call her my "old soul angel". It is quite clear to me NOW, that she is above and beyond any other r8yo that i have ever heard of being, and even more deep then ME! I am totally stumped here! I do not know what to say to her esp when she gets upset. Talk about 2012 will become more and more as we near the date. I am truly frightened for her. I am at a complete loss. I would like to comfort her, but do not know how. Do you think it would be wise to get someone else to explain it to her AGE appropriately? End of world prophecy? It is my b-day.? I am born on December 21. I believe in God so I donno how much I believe this, but everybody is saying that the end of the world will be on December 21, 2012. Solar storm in 2012? NASA says the next solar storm cycle will peak in 2012. Great. 2012 is the year the Mayan calendar expires and many people say 12.21.2012 is the date of Earth's annihilation. I'm usually not one to believe, or buy into predictions and "doomsday" prophecies, but this is a little coincidental, don't you think? I've heard many things about this date, but mostly, the scenario that a giant solar storm will hit the Earth, which such intensity that it will cause Earth's poles to shift/reverse, causing it to begin rotating in the opposite direction. Any real thinker sitting out there? If you believe in prophecies about 21: 12: 2012, you must be thinking about distasters like Earthquakes, Tsunami, World War, Nuclear War, Biological War that may prove a threat to Human Race. What if I suppose this to be something other than any disaster? What if I suppose that the date comprises the end of current political system in which there 295 countries. The same threat arises again... If the current political system comes to a downfall, there will be no governance. There will be no security and the crime will do touch the sky. The terrorists like Osama will feel free to raise their tyranny. Again... a threat to human beings. Now my point is that if the present countries and their governments are collapsed by some force, I don't know whether a single person smart enough to do that or some group of people, then the whole world will be naked. I don't know if it is possible or not for a single person or community but noone knows the future. It will depend upon that force if it rules in a good way or a bad but the time between fall of current system of governance and the rise of a new system of governance will be very tough for everyone as there will be no governance at all. would anyone take a random doomsday date seriously? seems to me all these doomsday dates are picked more because they sound convincing. i remember when june 6, 2006 (6/6/6) was supposed to be doomsday. and before that i think it was supposed to be january 1, 2000 (or was it 2001 making it 1/1/1). and now the big one is december 21, 2012 (12/21/12). would anyone believe a prophecy if someone just made up a random number, like say feb. 17, 2058?

when did Nostradamus predict 2012? I was doing research out of boredom on 2012, and I keep hearing about Nostradamus predicting 2012 (Kind of how they said he predicted the world would end on Y2K.) I read in a few books that Nostradamus told his son in a letter that his projections would last thousands of years, all the way to 3797. His son believes this could possibly mean that is when the world ends. One resources says Nostradamus told his son he believed the earth would be wiped from the universe in 3797 by a cataclysmic event. 3797 seems to be the date he has set for either the end of the world, or the end of as far as he could see. He never, in my research, mentioned 2012 nor the exact date of 12.21.12 so where is this supposed doomsday prediction from Nostradamus? Is this another one of those fabricated predictions like his supposed 9/11 prediction that never existed until someone wrote it on 9/12 and credited it to him? or kind of how he's credited with the end of the world prophecies during Y2K. Will 2012 cause more fear than before? How much evidence is there to prove it?
